Holidays in the Haute Garonne

things to do

Laze

Take the time to relax on a sun lounger in the garden, on your terrace or by the pool with a good book.

Cook

Do the real "holiday thing" and cook your evening meal on a barbeque in the open air whilst taking in the splendid view.

Play

Take advantage of the space and try a few games in the meadow - the choice is yours!

Explore the grounds or local village

There's plenty of fauna and flora in the garden and meadow.  We leave a couple of sections un-mown to encourage wild flowers, birds and insects.   There are a huge variety of butterflies, insects and wild flowers plus field mice, dormice, moles, voles etc.  Take a stroll into the village and admire our beautiful, newly renovated village church.

Exploring the countryside

The arboretum at Cardeilhac has a visitors centre open in the summer .  Visit the Gorges de la Save or the pre-historic caves at Gargas and Labastide or explore the land of the Pyrenean brown bear at Arbas.  Go into the mountains and follow one of the many public footpaths or, if you are feeling energetic, follow the routes of the Tour de France (Aspet, Col de Tourmalet etc) maybe even watch a stage as it passes nearby.  Why not visit the Pic du Midi observatory or go pony trekking, white water rafting, gliding, fishing, golf - all are nearby?

Eating out

You can try anything from pizza, to Roman feasts at Saint-Just-Valcabrère, to gourmet delights at one of the many local hotels, restaurants or auberges.  Enjoy lunch out, maybe try a "Menu Ouvrier" at a local restaurant from €10 a head for four courses often including wine.

Culture

We are close to the centre of pre-history at Aurignac, the Roman ruins at Montmaurin and the magnificent, ancient cathedral at St Bertrand de Comminges.  Why not take a day trip to Toulouse?  Take the train directly from St Gaudens to central Toulouse and don't worry about parking or negotiating the city traffic).  The centre of pottery making (faience) is at Martres Tolosane where you can visit and purchase direct from the potteries.
